William Shakespare. He was born on April 23rd in 1564. People thought William was a bad actor but they loved his plays. He wrote and performed 37 plays. His wife, Anne Hathaway, stayed in Stratford looking after their children. She probably never saw his plays. Shakespare lived in a time called The Renaissance. There are some people who thinks that William from Stratfordunon-Avon didn't write all those great plays. People who lived in Stratford knew Shakespare as a glove maker and not as a play writher. William left no manuscripts and when people looked at his signature, they saw that his handwriting was not so good. He became famous because of his good writing and his good plays.
The Renaissance. Took place from 1500 to 1600. The Renaissance means "rebirth", and refers to the interest in the cultures of ancient Greece and Rome. For the men of the Renaissance, the Greek and Roman culture became an ideal. In England the reformation became nationalistic. Under Henry VIII's daughter Elizabeth (1558-1603) the world opened up. British ships sailed to new countries.
The ideal Renaissance man was expected to be a soldier, a hunter, a scholar, a musican and a poet in one (person).
The famous Renaissance motto "carpe diem" indicates that altought man must die he was determined to make the most of life.
A plot of the movie "Romeo and Juliet".
The movie "Romeo and Juliet" by the producer William Shakespare is set in Verona in Italy.
The movie is about Romeo (Leonardo Di Caprio) and Juliet (Claire Danes). Their lifes is a little dramatic.
Montagues and Capulets are two feuding families, whose children meet and fall in love. They have to hide their love from the world because they know that their parents will not allow them to be together. There are obstacles on the way, like Juliet's cousin Tybalt, and Romeo's friend Mercutio, and many fights.
Romeo and Juliet love each other and they have fun together.
One day a friend of Romeo visits him. Romeo becomes very happy. This was his best friend. He came with the message that Juliet had died. Romeo became terribly sad. He cried a lot and did not think this could be true.
Romeo drove instantly to the church where Juliet was "sleeping" in a big red bed in the middle of many candles. Romeo looked Juliet in her eyes and was still crying a lot. Romeo joined Juliet in the bed. Suddenly Romeo saw a bottle with poison, he became very angry and sad. He drank the poison too. He could not live without his Juliet. He died. Right after Romeo died, Juliet wake up and the first one she saw was Romeo. She thought he was dead. She cried a lot, just like Romeo did when he thought Juliet had died.
But then she saw a gun. She took the gun and shot herself. This describes the end of the movie "Romeo and Juliet".
Characters. I will write a little about Romeo.
In the beginning of the movie, Romeo was a normal person like all the persons around him. He has friends and family. He lived a normal life like all others.
One day he saw a girl, and it was love at first sight for him. She looked happy, nice, beautiful, and she was everything a girl should be, Romeo thought. He fell in love with her instantly.
Juliet liked Romeo too. She thought he was nice, kind and cute. They became in love with each other.
They lived an exciting life together. One day Juliet died, Romeo was crying a lot, the love of his life had died. He took his own life because he was so angry and sad. He took his life "for" Juliet, and right after Juliet took her life "for" Romeo.
A little strange story, but the movie was like this I think. They took their lives for each other. Either of them could live with out the other.
Theme. Here I will write a little about the man who played Romeo (Leonardo Di Caprio).
Leonardo Di Caprio was born in Los Angeles November 11th in 1974.
His full name is Leonardo Wilhelm Di Caprio.
He gained world wide fame for his role as Jack Dawson in Titanic and has starred in many other films, like "Romeo and Juliet", "Catch me if you can", and "Blood Diamond".
Di Caprio was born in Los Angeles, California. The only child of Irmelin.
Di Caprio's career began with his appearing in several commercials and educational films. He got his break on television in 1990 when he was cast in the short-lived series based on the movie Parenthood.
His debut film role was "Critters 3", a B-grade horror movie, which later went straight to video. Soon after, in 1991, he became a recurring cast member on the hit "ABC sitcom Growing Pains", playing Luke Brower, a homeless boy who is taken in by the Seavers.
